American Originals - Wicked Quick - Hell Bent On Speed

Wednesday, November 16th 2011
PORTLAND, OR (NOVEMBER 2011) On Tuesday, Portland-based apparel company, Wicked Quick announced that Mike Edwards will take an active role in the company as the Chairman of the Board.

I am excited to join Wicked Quick and help drive the brand to the next level. I have been following Wicked Quick since 2008, when the founder, Tarran Pitschka, began the Series A investment pitch. I was, and still am impressed with what they have done with the brand, and feel they have created a $50M brand proposition with a little bit of investment and a lot of bootstrapping said Mike Edwards.

Mike has demonstrated a track record of success formally as CEO of lucy activewear where he reinvented the retailer taking it from just 10 stores and no e-commerce capability to over 60 stores and a successful web business. The International Council of Shopping Centers recognized Mike's leadership at lucy naming it 2007 Brand of the Year. In August 2007, Mike drove the high-return sale to VF Corporation (NYSE: VCF), a $7.6 billion apparel powerhouse. Mike was also a key part of driving results at UIB Capital-owned Ellington Leather; West Marine (NASDAQ: WMAR) and CompUSA, where he helped grow the company from $100M annually to more than $5B in eight years. Earlier in his career he was part of a successful turnaround effort with Jo-Ann Stores Inc. (NYSE: JAS) taking it from the brink of bankruptcy to a highly profitable company. Most recently, Mike was brought on to Borders and promoted to CEO in 2010 to try and drive a turnaround effort (too late).

We are excited to have Mike Edwards as part of the team, says Wicked Quick CEO and Founder, Tarran Pitschka. From the first time I met Mike in 2008, I was very interested in finding a way to get him involved with our company. He has a tremendous reputation and understanding of the apparel market and brands and we know he can help take us to a $50M company and beyond.
